Which Vaginal Mesh Implants May Be Having Complications

There has been numerous reports of vaginal mesh implant complications, and they come from name brand products that you already know or heard of. Gynecare

Gynecare is a supportive soft mesh that is placed inside the pelvis to restore organ support for women with pelvic organ prolapse. There are risks associated with pelvic organ prolapse repair with surgical mesh.

They include:

  • Vaginal mesh exposure
  • pelvic pain
  • pain during  intercourse
  • infection
  • difficulty urinating
  • injury to blood vessels, nerves, bladder, urethra or bowels.

The risk of mesh exposure is higher for women who smoke. Mesh exposure can cause pain during intercourse and may require additional treatment, including surgery.

C.R. Bard Avaulta

Serious complications have been associated with vaginal mesh, lawsuits have been filed against the widley known name brand C.R. Bard, the manufacturer of Bard Avaulta mesh, alleging that Bard Avaulta is defective. A number of pelvic organ prolapse (POP) patients who have used Bard Avualta vaginal mesh say there are defects in the design of the synthetic mesh that is causing them to suffer severe injuries and complications, following surgery.

Other lawsuits say that Bard knew or should have known about the dangers and risk of problems with its synthetic mesh but the company continued to market and promote the product as a safe and effective treatment for POP.

Know Your Facts About Vaginal Mesh

Any surgical mesh used to repair pop or stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is at a risk of erosion, failure, and the need for repair. Put simply, the use of surgical mesh as a treatment in the vaginal and pelvic area has never been adequately tested to ensure it is effective and safe.
